In the corner of the bar, Vega sat on her phone and took maybe a thousand smoke breaks for a whole 8 hours. It amazed Scarlet that somebody could be on their phone for so long. During the smoke breaks, they would go out back and start to catch up on what has been going on for each other in the past couple of years. Vega carried a backpack with her, which Scarlet assumed was full of books. In reality, the backpack contained just one book, a laptop, some clothes and her wallet. As they walked to her home at nighttime, Scarlet found out various incredible, shocking, humbling, and surprising details about what the former guardians of Starland have done.

"Gemma was imprisoned in Starland City for being unable to pay copyright fines," Vega explained as they walked home together, "Tessa and Gemma had a falling out after Tessa refused to go to any more of Gemma's shows after she had kids."

"Gemma had kids?" Scarlet asked.

"No, Tessa had kids. Actually, she had five. So since Tessa had to stay home and take care of her kids, she couldn't go and Gemma interpreted it as Tessa saying she loved her kids more than her sister." Vega continued while opening her third pack of smokes "Gemma was popular long enough for others to find out that she was stealing a lot of her comedy acts."

"I never found her funny anyway, more like really annoying." Scarlet muttered then remembered another annoying Starling "What about Sage? Are her and Cassie a couple now or what?"

"They actually live together, but I don't think they're a couple or anything. Sage takes care of Cassie, she's super messed up now." Vega said, doing a little shutter when she finished her words. Scarlet took a moment to ponder if Sage would have ended up gay, or maybe even bisexual like herself. She felt comfortable being touched by human hands regardless of gender, it was Starling's hands she wouldn't enjoy on her. Sage never showed any signs of liking girls, while Cassie never showed any signs of liking boys. She then looked to Vega and watched her former friend as she walked beside her.

What was Vega by now? She would never do it, but she wondered if at this point in time, could she reach over and hold her hand and Vega would blush, simply from being in contact with another girl? Or would she just nudge away? If Scarlet was a boy, would the reaction be any different or the same? Then Scarlet noticed another thing... Vega's hands were shaking still. Back when they were Starlings it would be a custom to walk next to your fellow Starlings with her arms or hands linked. Scarlet would never do it but Vega always would.

Who has she linked with since coming here and where was the baby Libby bragged about? Maybe it was a lie to cover something up, but Vega getting pregnant would prove that she really did love another human long enough to conceive, or maybe she loosened up enough to go party one night and make some kind of mistake? Whatever Vega's sexuality, what Scarlet could see was Vega has become a walking mass of anxiety, addicted to school and painfully addicted to nicotine with an oral fixation.

"Who's messed up now? Sage?" Scarlet asked noticing her thoughts were getting off track.

"Huh?" Vega was looking at the night sky.

"You said she was messed up now, I asked who, Sage or Cassie? Cause both seemed like they had a thing or too wrong up there..." Scarlet said while tapping her head. Ignoring the fact that Scarlet didn't have a reasonably bad memory about Sage, just annoying ones and she had no direct memories of Cassie. She remembered Cassie had a lot of bad shit happen to her, she knew Cassie kept a pet hidden in her room even though it was against the rules, she also knew her and Sage always had an awkward closeness that Scarlet couldn't tell if it was romantic love or platonic love (When it was from Cassie it seemed romantic, but from Sage it seemed like normal best friend things). She was only assuming Cassie also got on her nerves back then because everyone did.

"Cassie, apparently Bitty died and--"Scarlet interrupted her, "Who was Bitty?"

"Her pet.", Vega added, "Bitty died and Cassie went into this insane depression. Y'know how her parents died? Well, ap--" Vega was interrupted again. "I actually didn't know her parents died."

"Oh, well her parents died and that Glowfur used to belong to her mom. Bitty would sing her the songs her mom used to sing to her. Then Bitty died and now Cassie is kind of ruined."

"How ruined?" Scarlet asked.

"She barely eats," Vega answered, "and she doesn't speak out loud anymore, she basically talks through Sage now. Anytime she needs something said Sage says it for her or gets it for her. I think they live in Solar Springs. I heard Sage actually spoon feeds her her food and everything."

"So Cassie is basically a vegetable now?" Scarlet asked.

"Yeah, I guess," Vega replied.

"Fuck..." Scarlet muttered, thinking about Sage bursting with energy, talking about something stupid to a zombie version of Cassie as she sits in a bed. "It sounds like most of the Star Darlings are either dead or dying or had some other kind of horrible fate."

"Leona and Adora turned out pretty good last time I heard from them, granted it was maybe 6 years ago." Vega said while still looking up at the sky as she talked, "Leona is a pretty famous Pop Idol in Starland. Not really the biggest, but she's the reason Flairfeild is becoming a tourist attraction."

"Man, fuck Leona, honestly," Scarlet said which made Vega stop in her tracks and give Scarlet a completely appalled expression. Scarlet just returned the look with an arched brow and ask, "What? I thought everyone knew we hated each other. We never got along and always fought with each other."

Vega's eyes darted around as she tried to find some flaw in what she said. It was true that Leona and Scarlet fought, but Vega always thought that maybe behind closed doors Scarlet and Leona had something at least as deep as friendship. Without anything to say she decided to just let out a sigh and go back to watching the stars as they walked. The stars shined so dimly and it was still strange to Vega that she couldn't just reach up and catch one. The stars were too far away for anyone to admire them as deeply and as personally as a Starling could.

"What's Adora doing? I don't remember talking to her much even though we were both third years and graduated around the same time. She also had blue hair, right?" Scarlet asked, looking to Vega's head of hair, appreciating that Vega kept a bit of blue and kept her hair short after all this time.

"She's actually a science professor for a school in Solar Springs. She still makes clothes but it's more like a hobby," Vega answered, "though I don't know if she's still a teacher since I haven't heard from her in a long time." Scarlet instantly remembered the dress she had hanging on her wall back home in her room. She knew somebody made it especially for her, but she didn't remember who.

She felt a little bad forgetting that it was Adora who made an item that Scarlet held so close to her heart. It was the first thing somebody actually put an incredibly large amount of effort into for her. The place Scarlet knew as home was quickly coming into view. "That's my place over there," Scarlet said and pointed towards it. But Vega was too busy admiring the stars above, pondering to herself if she could see Starland from where she walked on WishWorld. It's rumored to be the brightest star in the sky, but as far as Vega knew the brightest star in the sky due to the placement, is the sun.
