lyrics

Vega stood behind Scarlet as she took out her keys to unlock the door to her apartment. Vega, having grown up in an apartment with her mom, was feeling uncomfortably aware of her surroundings. "Hey, do you allow smoking in here?" Vega asked as she already reached into her pocket. "Yeah. Well no, but I have like a million fans in my room and I always keep the windows open so it doesn't really matter." Scarlet informed her as she opened the door and stepped in.

Then she stopped dead in her tracks. She pondered for a second if she somehow went into the wrong apartment. Her spare shoes, which were usually just thrown onto the floor, were all lined up perfectly on the welcome mat she forgot she had. Scarlet slowly stepped into her home, not taking off her boots, unlike Vega who was behind her putting down her backpack and undoing her sneakers. Vega was completely oblivious to Scarlet's confusion.

All the garbage that was on her floor was picked up, and it even looked like somebody had recently vacuumed it. Scarlet almost tip-toed into her living room, finding everything in her living room has been organized for her. There was a noise in her kitchen. She looked to see Vega still in her doorway, bent over her backpack and pulling out what looked like pajamas. "Where can I change?" Vega asked before being instantly shushed.

Scarlet slowly walked down the (now clean) hallway to her kitchen. The dishes were clanking together and the sink was on. She carefully made her way until she was finally in the doorway to her kitchen, and standing in front of her sink was a woman with giant pink hair with two little babies by her feet.

"...Libby?" Scarlet asked, unaware about the bomb she just detonated. Libby instantly turned around, appearing before Scarlet in her completely vanilla, adult Starling form. Big pink hair, a pretty pink dress that showed off her cleavage and an ensemble of sparkles and light glowing from her. When she and Scarlet made eye contact, Libby let out a loud "SCARLET!" and ran towards her, causing an explosion of Wish Energy to cover the room. She ran towards Scarlet, whose reaction time was no match for Libby's obtuse star power.

Scarlet was now trapped in Libby's unbearable grip and being blinded by the unimaginable energy Libby was giving off. Scarlet quickly started wriggling to try and escape, which made Libby come back to her senses and she backed off. "Oh my stars, I'm so sorry I forgot you don't like hugs." she then looked to Vega and her excitement quickly became a more modest and calm joy. She slowly approached Vega with outstretched arms and the two slowly embraced.

Scarlet caught her breath, quickly inhaling and stepping back from the two. They stayed like that for a long time, Vega hugging Libby as the size difference made it so Libby was almost holding her. A tiny hand touched her leg and she jumped and looked down. She saw a little girl she had only ever seen in photos on her StarZap. She was holding up a block to Scarlet and staring up at her expectantly. Scarlet shrugged and reached down and took it which made the baby instantly start screaming. Finally, the embrace between Libby and Vega broke and Libby quickly went over to the crying baby.

"There there!" Libby said, picking her up and giving her a little bounce. "I- she offered me her block and I took it," Scarlet said, handing it back to Libby. Libby took it and gave it back to the small child, smiling calmly. "She understands the joy of giving, but still doesn't understand how to cope with not having it anymore," Libby explained, smiling at the baby in a way only a mother would. She looked to Scarlet, holding that same loving smile, "It's good to see you." She looked to Vega, "and you."

Scarlet didn't know what to say. Libby had given no warning, no sign or notice that she would be here. "How? What? Why?" Scarlet stuttered as she struggled to find the ways to ask Libby what she was doing here. "Well... my now ex-boyfriend and I had a falling out and I needed to get away. When I heard both you girls would be here I wanted to join!"

She put the small girl down by her sister and turned back to the dishes. The room was still glowing a little from Libby's excitement, but now some of that energy was being used to clean the incredible pile of dishes Scarlet had soaking for over a month. "I thought we'd all get together, y'know?" Libby continued. Scarlet was still at a loss for words while Vega was more focused on taking out her smokes quick enough once she remembered the open window in the living room. "I'll... be back," Vega muttered as she quickly trotted down the hall back to the living room.

Now, it was only Scarlet, Libby and two small infants in the room. Libby had her back still turned as she waved her glowing hands around, lifting and dropping various plates and large wads of water. "Ugh no, no way." Scarlet said, walking up next to Libby, "you can't just pop in out of nowhere, Libby!" Libby looked over at Scarlet a little confused, "But I texted you telling you I was coming too."

Scarlet almost felt a punch to the gut, being presented with another problem that could've been avoided if she'd actually look at her StarZap messages once and a while. The last time she actually looked at her StarZap was a night or so ago. Libby looked back to the dishes and continued, "Anyway, I thought maybe we could just hang out for the next few days, maybe talk about how we feel."

"Feel what?" Scarlet asked.

"About our dear late Lady Stella," Libby answered.

And just like that, there was an uncomfortable aura trapping Scarlet. She had forgotten completely about Lady Stella's death. Almost as if she woke up this morning with that memory removed from her. Even on her walk here, Scarlet didn't remember either her or Vega mentioning Lady Stella.

"Right..." Scarlet replied.

Libby went back to focusing on the dishes and Scarlet took the time to admire how clean her kitchen was now. The faint smell of cleaning detergent was usually a welcome sent regardless of what you're used to your home smelling like.

"But why?" Scarlet asked, "I don't remember you coming here when Astra or Clover died, so why now?"

"Because if I remember right, you loved Lady Stella very much." Libby replied, looking back to Scarlet for a moment, just long enough for Scarlet to notice the wetness in Libby's eyes, "I actually think she was the only one who didn't get on your nerves... and Scarlet," Libby said while looking Scarlet in the eye, to make sure she was listening.

"Yeah?" Scarlet replied.

She put her hand on Scarlet's shoulder long enough to speak, "I'm sorry if I was part of the reason you hated being in Starland so much. "

She then gave Scarlet a modest smile and turned around to go back to washing her dishes. In response, Scarlet let out an angry sigh. "Fine, you can stay here too."
