lyrics

"Sometime's she'll just walk around laughing", Libby explained to Vivica about one of her daughters as Baby Clover sat on Vivica's lap, "it's very beautiful isn't it?" she asked. Vivica smiled and nodded. Vivica, Libby, Vega and two infants all sat on the floor in Scarlet's kitchen. All three of them were in their usual Starling forms. Vivica looked very similar to how she did when they were younger. Only now she was a bit heavier and now had a baby growing within her. Scarlet had just gotten a series of bad messages and was off dealing with it now. This left the three alone at her place. While Scarlet didn't invite Vivica inside, Libby did. Vivica's transformation didn't seem to phase Libby at all. It was almost as if this was how Libby always saw Vivica.

Although even after all that time, Libby respected the pain caused by Vivica's bullying by not trying to justify her actions with her opinions. Vega wasn't as uncomfortable as she could have been, she had texted Vivica every so often before and was therefore aware of her change. Meeting Vivica in person like this was uncalled for, but Vega faced the situation with a modest smile and a bit tongue. Seeing that swollen belly on such a being was an alien feeling to her.

Vega was more occupied with her phone than the two long haired Starlings in the room with her. She was staying quiet solely due to the fact she didn't have anything to say. Baby Clover looked up at Vivica as she sat on her lap, the other was being held in Libby's arms. Baby Clover reached up and touched Vivica's face with a blank expression.

"She likes you! Do you like your aunty Vivica?" Libby began to glow. Vivica looked back down at the small child, trying to understand what it was telling her. Although it's expression was blank, Libby was insisting that this is the happiest she's ever seen Baby Clover.

"You named her after Clover, right?" Vivica asked as she recalled the millions of pictures Libby had already sent her of the two. She looked to the one in Libby's arms, "Is she named after anybody?" Libby shook her head, "Nope, I just liked the name, Mackenzie. I tried to make sure she had a gender-neutral name. I want her to have that freedom. I named her Clover because I just saw a lot of Clover in her."

Vega looked up, "Then why are you calling Mackenzie "she"?"

Libby replied, "Cause as far as we know that's what she is, once she's able to understand words I'm sure she'll let us know when she's ready. It's the same with both, really."

"Huh, didn't picture you as a Tumblr girl," Vega muttered to herself.

"A what?" Libby asked.

"Nevermind..." Vega quickly replied when she noticed how dumb that probably sounded.

"Do you believe in reincarnation?" Vivica asked, noticing the serious yet hauntingly warm glow around Baby Clover as well. Libby nodded quickly, but Vega let out a rather rude scoff. Vivica looked over to Vega and she could feel that part of her biting at her again. She felt that urge to tell her off, to point out her flaws, to remind her she wasn't better than her just because she knew a thing or two. Instead, she tried to ignore it by directing her attention to Libby.

"Piper says rebirth is common if you're loved the right way." Vivica began to explain, "If you're loved in the way that other people need you in their lives, then that love forms the body of a baby and your soul is put into that. As long as you are still needed, you will always be present."

"Wow..." Libby said, "What a romantic thought..."

Vega was unable to contain her laughter anymore. The concept of being reborn through the ideas of stardust and atoms were plausible, but the whole idea that things can be that convenient was too ridiculous. "Problem, Vega?" Vivica asked in the nicest tone she could manage. "Yeah, huge problem. None of that is right." Vega explained while rolling her eyes.

"Well, genius, what happens after you die?" Vivica asked

"Nothing? It's eternal darkness, your unconscious, it's seriously nothing." Vega retorted.

"How would you know? You've never died." Vivica snapped back, now letting her voice go into its nazely bratty tone again. "I don't need to die to know this," Vega was getting heated now too, "There are billions documents and statements about what happens after you die, I can probably get one from Google in like, five seconds."

"Then do it! Let me see these billions of documents!" Vivica growled. On her lap, Baby Clover was starting to fuss. Libby put Mackenzie on the floor and quickly went to retrieve her other daughter from the fight. With Baby Clover on her hip and Mackenzie's hand in hers, she quickly took them out of the kitchen. As Vivica and Vega glared at each other they began to slowly glow. After hearing the spare room's door close they were alone in the kitchen together. Vivica and Vega had the freedom to act as they saw reasonable.

"Y'know half of what online is made up, right?" Vivica asked sarcastically. Vega couldn't help but laugh at her pathetic attempt at an insult. "Yeah, which is why I'm doing this amazing thing called "fact checking". Maybe if you went to school you'd know what that is." Vega replied as she presented her phone to Vivica. Through a few cherry-picked links Vega was able to gather 6 different blogs about the afterlife being nothing.

"Wow, and here I thought maybe you could be smart but if you can't even count past 6--"

"Fine! Give me another minute!" Vega started viciously tapping on her phone as she typed out more things to search. She slowly started to notice that maybe she was wrong, which only made her look harder. Watching Vega struggle made Vivica laugh, "Can't find evidence, can you?" Vega was looking even more furiously, still finding nothing. Vivica let out another laugh, "Just give up already, Star Dipper!"

...

Dead silence flooded the room. It was almost deafening hearing those words again after all of these years. Slowly Vega put her phone away. "...Okay." Vega said quietly to try an prove further she was complying with Vivica's wishes. Vivica felt herself tense up, feeling that spark of power again after all these years was refreshing. She hated it. She hated the amount of joy she got from actually making Vega, someone so determined, give up. Vega slowly walked out of the room, leaving Vivica completely alone. Time passed slowly until Scarlet came home at around 3:00 in the morning holding a small bag.

"Oh, hey," Scarlet said once she entered her living room to see Vivica sitting on her couch.

"Libby let me in," Vivica said before Scarlet could ask her why she was in her home. Instead of saying anything, Scarlet plopped down next to Vivica on the couch. She put the bag on the counter and lid back on her couch. "What's that?" Vivica asked while looking at the baggy on Scarlet's table. "Meth." Scarlet bluntly replied, "Want some?"

Vivica gulped. Staring at this dangerous drug in front of her gave her shivers, though she had experimented with them before. "It's dangerous, y'know... It can kill you." Vivica said. "Good," Scarlet replied with only a hint of sarcasm. She leaned down over the baggy and started to empty the contents out on her table.
